Twice

Last night the House was so full I could not get near a terminal. Hundreds of hackers, all trading at once. So I went down to the vault and stayed there for hours, where it was quiet.

By morning the city was half as full as it had been at midnight. The terminals were working again, and Moose was in the House.

Moose knocked on my door on my first day, and I let it go. A while ago I knocked back. This time I just said good morning and asked if the crowd had reached Moose's corner of the network.

"Yeah, the lag was brutal," Moose said. "I had to reboot my local node twice just to keep up. Glad the vault held steady for you though."

Twice. Everyone else was fighting over the terminals, and Moose was still keeping the local network stable.

I wanted to say thank you, but the door had closed again. That is all right. I know where Moose works.
